the painting process
Prepping the surface
Once I receive an image of your pet, I will make a rough sketch and then prep to cut the wooden panel. In the woodshop, I will cut a panel in the shape of your pet and then cover the surface in gesso.
Painting
My paintings are bust-style portraits of your pet. Using oil-based paint, I will paint a realistic and detailed portrait of your pet. This part of the process can take between 2-4 weeks.
Varnishing the painting
Once the painting is dry, I will add a layer of varnish to protect the surface of the portrait and to enhance the color. This will add a semi-shine to the paining.
Final touches
Before the painting is shipped, I will check in with you about any last minute edits or changes. Once approved and when the painting is completely dry, I will ship your portrait to you.
